DESCRIPTION: Bruce Roberts Design Motor Sailer 28’ LOA. Built by Offshore Yachts in 1986. GRP hull, deck and superstructure on shoal draft long lead filled keel with skeg supported rudder. Professionally maintained and comprehensively equipped, Margie is offered as a good sea boat having cruised the West Coast from Scotland to the Channel Islands and Ireland. She benefits from full standing headroom in the main saloon/wheelhouse and good head height in the separate fore cabin. The Accommodation offers five berths in two cabins with a separate sea toilet. An Eberspacher cabin heater is included but not fitted. There is standard tiller steering in the deep cockpit with hydraulic internal wheel steering plus internal and external engine controls.

ENGINE: Volvo MD5c 10hp diesel (Rebuilt 2003). Volvo 110S sail drive unit to 14” fixed prop (new 2005). 80 litre stainless steel fuel tank with deck filling. 2 no heavy duty (switched) batteries 110a and 80a

SAILS AND SPARS: Sloop rigged on silver anodised spars by Proctor with stainless steel standing rigging. Roller reefing genoa. New (2004) lazy jack/stack pack to main. Spinnaker and storm jib. 2 Barlow self tailing genoa sheet winches. 2 mast mounted halyard winches.

DECK EQUIPMENT: Sea Wolf electric windlass with deck and cabin remote control. Bruce Anchor with 15m of chain and 50m of warp. Cockpit cover. Warps/fenders. Bathing Platform (fixed and inc in LOA). Cockpit cushions. Cockpit/saloon table. Deck floodlighting. VHF cockpit waterproof speaker

NAVIGATION EQUIPMENT: NASA Clipper log/speed and wind instruments. NASA Navtex Pro. Autohelm 3000 autopilot. Navigation lights. Barometer. Autohelm SL50 (Pathfinder) Radar (16 miles). Garmin GPS 75 with external antennae. VHF radio plus cockpit extension speaker

COMMENTS: Margie has a strong (1” thick) hull based on one of Bruce Roberts sailing hulls and therefore her sailing performance is superior to that normally expected of traditional motor sailers. She is capable of making extensive passages and is particularly well equipped for the purpose. The hull was epoxy treated (preventative) in 1999 and the interior professionally fitted out, including rewiring, in 2000. I have owned Margie for 4 seasons (river use only) but am now looking for something smaller. She is presently afloat in a marina (Essex) and is, therefore, available for viewing at any time by arrangement.
